CommScope Optical Hubs, Nodes and Passives

CommScope Optical Hubs

The CommScope NH/VH4000 Series Virtual Hubs (VHub) are compact, outside plant platforms that extend headend functionality to remote locations, eliminating the need for costly new construction. Their modular design supports up to 12 application-specific modules, providing exceptional flexibility to deliver a mix of services—including traditional RF, RFoG, and 10G EPON—from a single, strand or pedestal-mounted unit. This allows operators to cost-effectively support future growth and new revenue streams in rural or new development areas with a future-proof solution for both residential and commercial requirements.

CommScope Optical Nodes

CommScope’s NC-Series and OM-Series represent the industry’s most widely deployed and flexible optical node platforms. They provide a robust foundation for traditional HFC networks while seamlessly supporting evolutionary paths to advanced architectures like Fiber Deep, DAA, RFoG, and PON. Supporting up to 1.2 GHz for DOCSIS 3.1 and enabling node segmentation for bandwidth expansion, these nodes offer a proven, scalable solution to increase subscriber bandwidth and protect infrastructure investments, ensuring a smooth migration to next-generation services.

CommScope Optical Passives

CommScope offers the industry’s most comprehensive portfolio of optical passives for outside plant applications. This includes a full range of standard and application-specific couplers, splitters, filters, and multiplexers. Built to Telcordia GR standards, these components are engineered for high reliability, featuring epoxy-free optical paths, high channel isolation, and a wide operating temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). This ensures superior performance and mechanical stability for critical network deployments in RFoG, PON, broadcast, and commercial services.

CommScope Broadband Network Gateways

CommScope’s MSR Multi-Service Router Series is a versatile, disaggregated hardware solution for the network edge, supporting roles from aggregation switching to a full vBNG Evo with advanced QoS for thousands of subscribers. Leveraging Open Compute Project (OCP) hardware and next-generation silicon, its key innovation is the separation of control and user planes. This allows service providers to deploy compact, powerful switches at the edge while managing services from a centralized location. The MSR Series delivers the flexibility to function as a BNG, L2/L3 aggregation switch, Carrier Ethernet edge router, or top-of-rack switch, providing a future-proof platform for evolving Internet services.

CommScope Optical Line Terminals

CommScope’s PON Evo portfolio offers a flexible range of Optical Line Terminals (OLTs) in compact, hardened form factors for versatile deployment. Built on an open, standards-based, and software-defined architecture, it eliminates vendor lock-in and supports both disaggregated and traditional models. This cloud-native solution enables seamless scaling of next-gen PON networks and simplifies the transition between distributed and centralized architectures. Furthermore, its seamless integration with CommScope’s PON vBNG and ServAssure solutions reduces operational complexity (OPEX) by providing a unified, proactively managed network environment.

CommScope Optical Modules

CommScope’s 1001310 Optical Transceiver Module is an XFP transceiver designed for high-speed, 10G Ethernet bidirectional communication over a single fiber. It is engineered to support CommScope’s high-bandwidth EPON products, including the XE4202M Remote OLT (R-OLT). Complying with IEEE 802.3av and XFP MSA standards, it delivers flexible support for symmetric 10G, asymmetric 10G/1G, and legacy EPON data rates. Key features include a robust metal enclosure for durability and low EMI, an SC/UPC connector, a wide operating temperature range (-40°C to 90°C), and low jitter for superior transmission performance, making it ideal for demanding network environments.

CommScope Optical Network Units (ONU)

CommScope’s Optical Network Unit (ONU) portfolio offers reliable, feature-rich solutions for both residential and commercial applications. These off-the-shelf, plug-and-play devices provide high-speed service access with minimal setup required. Key features include multiple LAN ports for versatile applications, secure 128-bit AES encryption, and advanced Quality of Service (QoS) to optimize data and VoIP performance. The ONUs are designed for seamless interoperability, working natively with CommScope’s OLT portfolio while maintaining compatibility with other vendors’ systems.

CommScope PON Network Management

The PON Evo™ Software Defined Network (SDN) Management and Control platform is CommScope’s centralized solution for simplifying PON network operations. It provides unified control for CommScope and third-party OLTs and ONTs, significantly reducing operational complexity and OPEX in multi-vendor environments. Key features include Zero-Touch Provisioning (ZTP), centralized alarm management, and a user-friendly GUI. Built on a modular, scalable architecture with open APIs, the platform offers full FCAPS management, network virtualization, and flexible scripting for massive operations, enabling service providers to automate and streamline their entire PON infrastructure.

CommScope Passives

CommScope’s portfolio of 1.2 GHz RF Taps—including Regal, BTTF-Q, and FFT-Q series—provides a complete solution for managing power and signal distribution in HFC networks. These power bypass, power extracting, equalizing, and multi-tap units feature interchangeable housings, enabling rapid, cost-effective field upgrades of existing taps to full 1.2 GHz functionality for seamless network evolution.
